Ranking of the best Visa cards in Belgium
In September 2026 the best Belgian Visa card is the Keytrade Bank Visa Gold, free for anyone who pays with it at least twelve times a year and covered for trip cancellation up to EUR 5,000. The Europabank Visa comes next, free with no conditions. Seven Visa cards read off the issuers' official pages on 26 September 2026.
Fees checked on 26 September 2026
In brief
- The Keytrade Bank Visa Gold is free as long as it is used twelve times a year and includes EUR 5,000 of cancellation cover; without that usage it costs EUR 50 the following year.
- The Europabank Visa is the only Belgian Visa that is free with no conditions at all: EUR 0, a EUR 2,500 reserve, no account to open at the issuer.
- Beobank's Visa cards are credit facilities at a 14.49% APR in the representative examples, for EUR 5 a year (Gold) or EUR 20 (Extra, 1% cashback capped at EUR 100).
- Of seven issuers, only Keytrade (1.40%) and Revolut publish a quantified FX commission on a readable page.

Keytrade Bank Visa Gold
8.7/10Annual feeFree with 12 payments/year (otherwise EUR 50/year)Non-euro1.40% on payments outside the euro zoneNetworkVisa - Keytrade BankPros : No fee in the first year, then none for as long as the card was used at least twelve times over the past year. For that price Keytrade includes what the high-street banks charge for on their Gold cards: trip cancellation or interruption up to EUR 5,000, travel accident up to EUR 100,000, delayed or cancelled departure up to EUR 250, cash stolen after a withdrawal up to EUR 1,000. Spending is debited in one go at the start of the following month, and euro-zone withdrawals are free.
Cons : A quiet year costs EUR 50 the year after, twice the Visa Classic of the same bank in the same situation. The monthly limit goes up to EUR 5,000, but the bank sets it file by file. Outside the euro zone a withdrawal costs EUR 2 plus 0.40% of the amount plus 1.40% FX. The application link leads to Keytrade's transactional site: the card is ordered from a customer account.
The cheapest Gold card in Belgium, since it costs nothing to anyone who pays once a month. The transaction counter on the dashboard shows at any time whether next year will be free.

Europabank Visa
8.4/10Annual feeFree (EUR 0/year)Non-euroNot shown on the product pageNetworkVisa - EuropabankPros : Zero euros, with no payment count to reach and no current account to open at the issuer. A EUR 2,500 reserve, purchases debited at the start of the following month, interest free. Europabank, part of the Crelan group and based in Ghent, describes itself as the only Belgian bank that issues its own credit cards and processes every payment in house.
Cons : The card is set to the European region by default: elsewhere it only works with chip and PIN, unless you temporarily switch it to worldwide use in eb online. No insurance is mentioned on the product page, and the reserve is fixed. The card banking conditions PDF, the only place the FX commission could appear, displayed nothing on 26 September 2026.
The card for people who pay rarely and do not want to watch a counter. Before a trip outside Europe, a visit to eb online is a must.

Beobank Visa Gold
7.6/10Annual feeEUR 5/yearNon-euroReferred to Beobank's fee scheduleNetworkVisa - BeobankPros : The annual fee comes down to EUR 5 for a credit facility between EUR 3,000 and EUR 10,000, with no account to open at Beobank. Purchase insurance runs for 200 days and EUR 3,000 a year, the extended warranty adds a year on household appliances, electronics and IT up to EUR 2,000 per claim, and Safe Online steps in up to EUR 1,250 for an online purchase that never arrives. Withdrawals up to EUR 1,000 per 24 hours.
Cons : In law, an open-ended credit facility: the representative example shows an APR of 14.49% on EUR 3,800, variable borrowing rate 14.20%, rates in force on 09/05/2025. The minimum repayment drops to one eighteenth or one twentieth of the balance used, with a EUR 25 floor. No travel insurance.
The cheapest high-limit Visa on the market for anyone who clears every statement. For anyone who carries a balance, the fee becomes the smallest line on the bill.

Beobank Visa Extra
7.1/10Annual feeEUR 20/year (EUR 20 credited for applications up to 30/11/2026)Non-euroReferred to Beobank's fee scheduleNetworkVisa - BeobankPros : The only Visa in the panel that pays back part of your spending: 1% in Belgium and abroad, credited on the following statement. The same three insurance policies as the Visa Gold. For any application filed up to 30 November 2026, Beobank pays EUR 20 onto the card account after a first purchase made within three months of the card being granted.
Cons : Cashback is capped at EUR 100 per calendar year and excludes withdrawals, interest, fees, crypto purchases and payments routed through some e-wallets. The same credit mechanism as the Gold, with an APR of 14.49% on EUR 2,700 in the representative example. The main navigation of beobank.be now pushes the Extra Mastercard; the Visa Extra only shows up in the bank's internal comparison tool.
Worth it from EUR 2,000 of yearly card spending, the point where the 1% covers the fee. Above EUR 10,000 the EUR 100 cap stops the gain.

Hello bank! Hello credit card (Visa Classic)
6.8/10Annual feeFree the first year, then EUR 2.25/month (EUR 27/year)Non-euroReferred to the fee listNetworkVisa - Hello bank!Pros : Debited once a month, interest free, from the Hello payment account. A limit between EUR 250 and EUR 5,000 a month, and rental or hotel deposits taken on the card rather than frozen on the account. In-store purchase cover up to EUR 3,000 per claim for 120 days, online purchases up to EUR 1,000 for 90 days, and 50% off for Hello4You members up to and including 27.
Cons : Reserved for Hello bank! customers and requested by phone from the Hello Team. Withdrawals are capped at EUR 620 per four-day period. The product page promises lower foreign-currency charges than the debit card without giving the percentage.
Useful for a Hello bank! customer who wants a deposit hold without freezing their balance. For everyone else, EUR 27 a year buys what Keytrade and Europabank give away.

BNP Paribas Fortis Visa Classic
6.3/10Annual feeEUR 2.25/month outside a package (schedule dated 25/10/2022), included in the Easy Guide PackNon-euroFX margin not quantifiedNetworkVisa - BNP Paribas FortisPros : Payment deferral up to EUR 2,500 a month, debited at the start of the following month. Full control from the Easy Banking App: international, online or contactless payments switched on or off, limits changed, card blocked. Two AG Insurance policies cover purchases for 120 days against theft and accidental damage, and online purchases for 90 days against non-delivery.
Cons : The fee list linked from the product page is dated 25/10/2022 and still describes Comfort and Premium packs the page no longer mentions. According to it, a credit card cash withdrawal costs EUR 6 plus 1% of the amount, and the FX margin is added to the European Central Bank rate with no published percentage. The price of the Easy Guide Pack, which includes the card, was not checked here.
Makes sense for a customer who already has the Easy Guide Pack. Bought on its own it costs as much as the Hello card, with a fee schedule nearly four years old.

Revolut Standard (virtual Visa)
5.6/10Annual feeFree (EUR 7.99 delivery for the physical card)Non-euro0% on weekdays up to EUR 1,000/month, then 1%NetworkVisa - RevolutPros : No subscription, no income check, and a virtual Visa you can order in the app when the option is offered. On weekdays and under the EUR 1,000 monthly limit, currency exchange is free. Withdrawals stay free up to five operations or EUR 200 per rolling month, then 2% with a EUR 1 minimum.
Cons : A debit card: no deferred payment and no reliable deposit hold at a rental desk. For the physical card, Revolut assigns the network based on availability, whatever the plan, so there is no way to guarantee a plastic Visa. At weekends exchange costs 1%, as it does above the monthly quota, under the Belgian terms in force since 9 July 2026.
Revolut only makes a Visa ranking through its virtual card, since the physical one is a lottery. Keep it as a backup FX card, never as your main one.
The Visa logo says almost nothing about the contract
One Visa card sold in Belgium can work the opposite way to another. At Europabank, Keytrade, Hello bank! and BNP Paribas Fortis, the card defers payment and the account is debited once a month, interest free. At Beobank the same brand covers an open-ended credit facility, with an annual percentage rate of 14.49% in each of the representative examples read on 26 September 2026.
Visa itself lends nothing. The network carries the transaction between the merchant and the issuer; the fee, the limit, the insurance and the rate belong to the bank that issues the card. Beobank admits as much on its own product pages, where it writes that Visa and Mastercard work in a very similar way and that a shop accepting one but not the other is very rare.
This ranking therefore compares contracts that carry the same logo, on what they cost over three years, on the kind of credit they open, on their insurance and on how transparent their non-euro fees are.
The network comes last.

Which Visa card costs nothing over three years?
The Europabank Visa, unconditionally, and the Keytrade Bank Visa Gold, provided you pay with it at least twelve times a year. Every other card charges something.
Over thirty-six months, the bill read on 26 September 2026 comes to EUR 0 at Europabank, EUR 0 at Keytrade for a regular user, EUR 7.99 of delivery at Revolut, EUR 15 for the Beobank Visa Gold, EUR 40 for the Visa Extra once the EUR 20 paid at opening is deducted, EUR 54 for the Hello card and EUR 81 for the BNP Paribas Fortis Visa Classic bought outside a package, based on its 2022 fee schedule.
Keytrade gives away a Gold card with EUR 5,000 of cancellation cover and EUR 100,000 of travel accident cover, while the Visa Classic cards of Hello bank! and BNP Paribas Fortis cost EUR 27 a year with no travel cover at all. The usual hierarchy between Classic and Gold stops holding as soon as you leave the high-street banks.
At Beobank the anomaly is internal. The Visa Classic and the Visa Gold show the same EUR 5 fee in their representative example; the Gold nonetheless adds an extended warranty, a limit that goes up to EUR 10,000 and the same purchase and Safe Online package. I see no reason to sign up for the Beobank Visa Classic today: at the same price, the Gold from the same bank covers more, and the Classic lingers in the catalogue without any argument I could find.

Carrying a balance on a Beobank Visa costs 14.20% a year
The variable borrowing rate on the Beobank Visa Gold is 14.20%, rates in force on 09/05/2025 according to the product page read on 26 September 2026. A EUR 1,000 balance left unchanged for twelve months would therefore generate about EUR 142 of interest, more than twenty-eight times the card's annual fee.
Carrying a balance is optional. Each statement lets you choose between repaying everything and paying a minimum of one eighteenth of the balance used, or one twentieth above a EUR 5,000 line, with a EUR 25 floor. Paying that minimum month after month stretches the debt over more than a year. Beobank also recommends a direct debit for instalment repayment, which makes the minimum payment automatic unless the holder changes something.
Book VII of the Belgian Code of Economic Law governs this kind of contract: a creditworthiness assessment before granting, compulsory consultation of the Central Individual Credit Register, and registration of the contract in that file, kept by the National Bank of Belgium. A payment default that is never regularised stays there for ten years.
The presentation bothers me. The Beobank pages open with the legal warning that borrowing money also costs money, then highlight a EUR 5 or EUR 20 fee without ever putting a figure on what a carried balance costs. The EUR 142 does not appear there; it has to be worked out, and very few applicants work it out before signing.
If repayments become difficult, an approved debt mediation service or the local public welfare centre (CPAS/OCMW) can step in before the file tips into default, and Ombudsfin handles disputes with the bank free of charge.

What does a dollar payment cost with a Belgian Visa?
Keytrade is the only bank issuer in the panel to publish its figure on a readable page: 1.40% on payments outside the euro zone. Two weeks in the United States with EUR 2,000 of spending costs EUR 28 of commission there.
Revolut Standard charges nothing on weekdays as long as the month's exchange stays under EUR 1,000, then 1%. On the same EUR 2,000 paid within the month, half goes over the quota and costs EUR 10, provided nothing is paid between Friday 5 pm and Sunday 6 pm New York time, the window in which exchange costs 1% whatever the quota.
Elsewhere the percentage is missing. Hello bank! promises lower foreign-currency charges than its debit card and refers to its fee list. BNP Paribas Fortis describes a European Central Bank rate plus a commercial margin that varies with the operation, its size and the currency. Beobank refers to its fee schedule. Europabank says nothing on its card page, and its banking conditions PDF did not open on 26 September 2026.
For the Europabank Visa, a geographic setting weighs as much as the rate. The card is enabled for the European region by default, and a US terminal that does not read the chip with a PIN will decline it until the worldwide option has been switched on in eb online.

ING and Wise are missing, for different reasons
The Visa Classic page on ing.be returned only its title and description on 26 September 2026, with no amount, no limit and no readable insurance. It is the third consecutive check on this site where ING hits the same wall, after the business cards in August and the youth cards on 6 September. A card whose price cannot be read on any issuer source does not enter this ranking, even when comparison sites show a price.
Wise is out for another reason. The only issuer page calling its Belgian card a Visa is a blog post from May 2024, and no fee schedule read today confirms it. Revolut, for its part, has put the answer on its Belgian help centre: the network of the physical card is assigned automatically based on availability, whatever the plan.
The Keytrade and Beobank Visa Classic cards do exist. They stay out of the ranking because the Gold from the same bank does better on the same terms: free on the same twelve payments at Keytrade, the same EUR 5 fee at Beobank. Only the price of a quiet year at Keytrade, EUR 25 instead of EUR 50, still argues for the Classic, and it only matters to holders who forget their card at the back of a drawer.
As of 26 September 2026, the best Belgian Visa costs nothing and comes from an online bank, the Belgian branch of Arkéa Direct Bank, a subsidiary of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa.

For someone who rarely pays by card, the Europabank Visa, free with no conditions, is a better fit.
Is there a Visa card in Belgium that is free with no conditions?
Yes, the Europabank Visa: EUR 0 a year, a EUR 2,500 reserve, no current account needed at Europabank, subject to approval. Keytrade's Visa cards stay free on condition of twelve payments a year, and at Hello bank! the free period only covers the first year.
Is a Visa Gold worth the difference over a Visa Classic?
At Keytrade and Beobank the Gold costs the same as the Classic under normal conditions and covers more. At BNP Paribas Fortis, the fee list linked from the product page, dated 25/10/2022, charges EUR 4.25 a month for the Visa Gold against EUR 2.25 for the Visa Classic, EUR 24 more a year.
Can you choose Visa over Mastercard at Revolut?
For a virtual card, yes, in the app, when the option is offered and except for single-use cards. For the physical card, no: according to its Belgian help centre, Revolut assigns the network automatically based on availability, whatever the plan.
Do you need to bank with the issuer to get its Visa card?
Not at Europabank or Beobank, which issue their Visa cards without a current account with them. The Hello credit card is reserved for Hello bank! customers, and a Keytrade Visa is requested through the bank's transactional site. Everywhere, the application remains subject to approval.
